The company that invented the modern pick is still doing more than anyone else
In 1922, D'Andrea founder Luigi D'Andrea's son Anthony noticed that the offcut plastic he was cutting for another product looked exactly like a mandolin pick — and the modern guitar pick was born. Over 100 years and three generations later, D'Andrea still makes more shapes, gauges, materials and finishes than almost anyone in the business — and it's not just picks. Pickguards, hardware, and the small parts that keep a guitar playing right all carry the same obsessive attention to fit and feel.
One of the widest pick ranges available
Shapes: 351 (the industry-standard "classic" shape), 346 (smaller, Jazz-style, for precision single-note work), 358 (teardrop)
Materials:
Celluloid — the original pick material, warmer tone, classic feel, slight flex
Delrex — D'Andrea's own durable nylon-based material, more consistent wear, brighter attack
Gauges: Extra Light through Extra Heavy, so genre and technique (strumming vs lead, acoustic vs metal) both have a real match, not a one-size compromise
Pro-Grip Brites — D'Andrea's own textured, UV-bright pick line, built for grip and visibility on stage
More shapes, more gauges, more materials than almost anyone else stocks — because a strummer and a shredder shouldn't be reaching for the same pick. Celluloid for warmth and classic feel, Delrex for consistency and durability, both available across the full gauge range from Extra Light to Extra Heavy.
Precision at its finest.
A pickguard that's "roughly the right shape" means new holes in a guitar that didn't need them. D'Andrea cuts every guard to the exact spec, with a genuine 4-ply core and a hand-polished finish — not a generic approximation in the right ballpark.
